The trials of a Muslimah trying to affirm her Islamic Identity in a century where she is burdened by society’s perception of how she should look, think and act is no easy feat. The role of being a mother, wife, student and career woman in the present-day world, is undoubtedly accompanied by the feeling of inadequacy and self-doubt. The 21st century woman finds herself in a constant struggle with herself.

How does a brother, husband and colleague address a Muslimah in the secular world, in light of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam? By understanding the world of the unseen, the psyche of the Muslimah. A study of how the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam dealt with the Mothers of the Believers, finding joy and comfort in them whilst simultaneously nurturing them. This is an opportunity to be the best father, husband and son towards our mothers, wives and daughters.

In this course the modern Muslimah reflects on the lives of the wives of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam understanding the numerous challenges she is faced with and finding practical solutions to help her navigate through the perils of the contemporary world.

Muhammad West

Muhammad West

Sheikh Muhamad West, born in Cape Town, South Africa, spent most of his youth growing up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He went on to study a degree in Islamic theology and dawah at the Islamic University of Madinah while studying a degree in accounting science through the University of South Africa via correspondence. Sheikh Muhammad returned to Cape Town in 2011 graduating 2nd in the faculty of Dawah. He further qualified as a chartered accountant of South Africa after completing his articles. A devoted husband and father of three, Sheikh Muhammad is currently the Group Financial Accountant at one of the world's largest retailers. Sheikh Muhammad holds the position of resident Imam of the Boorhaanol Islam Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in South Africa. He is the Western Cape director of the Imam Development Project (IDP) whereby local Imams from underprivileged communities are given the necessary support and skills to further benefit the communities they serve.
